Known problems

Nobody is perfect - the following problems and limitations have been confirmed and may be addressed in upcoming releases:

(1) If dialog stacking isn’t working please check if “ATI HydraVision™” (may be a part of the “Catalyst Control Center”) is running. If yes try to disable "Dialog Repositioning" in the corresponding preferences.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

This collection of frequently asked questions provides brief answers to many common questions about finefiles. Please check here for answers before contacting me:

	(1) Will there be a release for Mac or Linux? Answer: a definite no!

	(2) Why is there a separate release for Windows XP? Answer: some features like the glass effect can’t be done in XP (or can’t be done with reasonable effort). XP is supported because it is still widely used, in a future version of finefiles this support may expire.

	(3) Why is there no local version in my language? Answer: I started with English, may future versions will support additional languages

	(4) Uniconfig: Sometimes the Add-, Cond-, Do This- or Else buttons are disabled without a logical reason? Answer: in the free version of finefiles the Uniconfig can manage up to 20 slots, if this limit is reached the buttons are disabled. To handle larger profiles please update to the professional version.

Feature requests

If you have a suggestion for how to improve or enhance finefiles, your input is always welcome. Please submit your suggestions through the contact form on this website. Feature requests submitted:

	(1) Timeline: make it possible to automatically locate files that moved and can`t be found at the original position anymore. File name and size have to match then.

	(2) Sidecar Explorer: let finefiles embedd a couple of files into a sidecar by drag & drop, not one after another.

	(3) VIDEO SPECS rule: distinguish between “lower than”, “equal to”, “higher than” and “in range” for video frame rate.

	(4) OGG-Support

	(5) Search for text in the console window
