Guided tour

Welcome new user! This tour should help you to understand some basic principles of finefiles

Guided tour 4/5: Case action section

1 - Create a new profile
2 - Configuration / define the input section
3 - Configuration / define the inspection section
4 - Configuration / define the case action section
5 - Run the process

Define actions to be taken for a specific case here. Possible cases are the result of the “inspection section” or file specifications gathered during the inspection and stored in so-called “registers”, for example. Let's start the fourth part of our guided tour, where we would like to achieve that all files inspected “true” are displayed green (MD5 hash match, the file is unchanged) and all inspected “false” are displayed in red (file content was changed).

First, again please press “Process / Configure...” in the menu to bring back the configuration window. Select the “Add”-button in the case action section and select the INSPECTION RETURNS TRUE case:

Take note that because this case need not to be defined, the slot is created immediately after the selection. Next press the “DO THIS”-button in the case action section on the right side while the slot is still selected:

A so called “Sub-Slot” is created. The rules and actions defined here are performed only if the main case (INSPECTION RETURNS TRUE) is true. To follow our tour select the DISPLAY action and press the corresponding “Define”-button as shown:

This opens the define dialog for this action. We would like the filename to be displayed if the inspection returns true, so select “FILENAME AS LINK” in the marked dropdown-list, for color select the first light green entry. Press “Ok” to confirm the define dialog:

The configuration should look like this:

Next we would like to configure that files which didn't match are displayed in red. So please create a second slot using the “ELSE”-button in the case action section on the right side while the case action slot is still selected:

Select a DISPLAY action again, press the “Define”-button, set "FILENAME AS LINK" and red as color to display the filename:

Our finished configuration should now look like this:

And now we can run the process... continue with part 5 of the guided tour...
