Guided tour

Welcome new user! This tour should help you to understand some basic principles of finefiles

Guided tour 3/5: Inspection section

1 - Create a new profile
2 - Configuration / define the input section
3 - Configuration / define the inspection section
4 - Configuration / define the case action section
5 - Run the process

In the inspection section you define what should be inspected for the selected files, and this is where you gather specific information to be reviewed later. The inspection can result in a true or in a false state. During this part of our tour we would like to configure finefiles to compare a fresh calculated MD5 hash with the hash stored in the filename for all selected files (if the file was changed by bit errors or manipulations the hash will not match).

To do so, first please press “Process / Configure...” in the menu if the Config Process window has been closed, the initial created profile "Shooting Guided Tour" should be loaded. The window opens again. You will see two orange slots with input rules created before. Press the “Add”-button at the inspection section as shown:

A third slot is created. Select the rule HASH and press the corresponding “Define”-button:

This opens the define dialog for the hash rule:

Select the marked switch until “IS FOUND IN FILENAME (SEARCH)” is displayed in the connected slot on the right side:

Press “Ok” if finished. The configuration window should now look like this:

Now the hash rule is complete, you can see a preview of our new inspection rule. finefiles will examine, for all processed files, whether the calculated MD5 hash can be found in the filename. Continue with part 4 of the guided tour...
