Guided tour

Welcome new user! This tour should help you to understand some basic principles of finefiles

Guided tour 2/5: Input section

1 - Create a new profile
2 - Configuration / define the input section
3 - Configuration / define the inspection section
4 - Configuration / define the case action section
5 - Run the process

Here's where you define how to select the files to process with a set of simple rules. All files that do not match these rules are skipped. For a better understanding let us start the second part of the guided tour. In our example we would like to realize a simple MD5 hash check for all video files on a disc. We will configure finefiles to archive that only files with the extension “.avi” and with a picture frequency of 25 fps are processed.

So first please press “Process / Configure...” in the menu, the Config Process Window opens and the profile “Shooting Guided Tour” created before should be loaded.

Select the “Add”-button in the input section as shown:

A new so-called “Slot” is created on the first possible position. In the dropdown-list inside the new slot you will find a list of possible rules and actions for the input section. For our example please select FILE EXTENSION:

Next thing to do is to define the new FILE EXTENSION rule. To do this press the “Define”-button as shown:

This opens the define dialog for this rule. Simply click on the “AVI” default button, this copies AVI to the list of extensions. Press “Ok” to confirm:

The define dialog is closed and you will see the first rule with a preview text in the Config Process window:

Add a second slot by clicking the "Add"-button again, select the VIDEO SPECS rule now. Press the “Define”-button for the VIDEO SPECS rule:

The define dialog for this rule is opened, it's a so-called “Multi-dialog”. Select the option “VIDEO FRAME RATE” in the dropdown-list on the left side as shown:

The display changes as follows, select 25 fps out of the dropdown-list in the right side as shown above. Confirm with “Ok”:

The configuration window should now look like this:

That’s all! You set the input configuration to accept only files with “.avi” extension and with 25 frames per second image frequency. All other files that do not meet these requirements will be skipped in the subsequent process. Continue with part 3 of the guided tour...
