for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7

Copyright

Installation

finefiles will run straight out of the box, no system libraries or system preferences are altered. It is truly a so called “portable application” and can be carried on a USB stick, for example. Or just place a copy with individual configuration on every disc you would like to be processed, it's as easy as that!

Please unzip the downloaded zip file anywhere on your disc. Start the program with a double-click on finefiles.exe

Note: If you move finefiles, just be sure to keep the finefiles.wconfig with the finefiles.exe to prevent the loss of your configuration • finefiles was designed to run under Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows 7 • You can integrate the professional version of finefiles in the Windows shell context menu to perform a process with a specified profile on currently selected drives or directories. To do so please visit the Settings / Shell Integration tab

Important files

finefiles creates and manages the following files:

finefiles.exe

finefiles XP.exe

finefiles.wconfig

finefiles.cwwcontent

<filename>.timeline

The main program to run using Windows Vista and Windows 7. Start finefiles with a double click on this file.

The main program to run using Windows XP only.

This file is very important, it contains all your settings and profiles because nothing is written into the windows registry to keep the program portable. Do not edit this file (or edit at your own risk)

The content of the Console window is stored in this file during exit. Please do not edit to prevent unexpected conditions

In these binary files the data to realize the timeline functions is stored, for details please visit the finefilesSpecs.pdf on the download page.

On the first run finefiles will try to create a directory called “ffpp” in the current directory containing some predefined profiles with the extension “.ffpp” (for “finefiles predefined profiles”). These predefinitions appear in the dialog to open a profile and are intended as examples for understanding the program or to use profiles from other users. You can delete these files and the whole ffpp-directory if you do not want to use them.

A second directory "fftmp" may be created in the current directory for temporary files. Please place no files inside this directory because the content will be deleted automatically the next time finefiles starts up.
